My girl isn't a big runner; is this camp for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to movement activities each day. When we say run, we mean run, walk, skip, roll or push, just as long as you are moving foward!

What does the registration fee include?

Your camp registration fee includes all lesson materials, including Camp GOTR curriculum, a journal, activity sheets, a Camp GOTR t-shirt, a Camp GOTR water bottle, a GOTR bracelet and sunglasses. In addition, your fee covers afternoon experiences like movement classes, art classes, and special guests.

We can't afford the camp registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Don't let cost stop you from participating! We are committed to making Camp GOTR accessible to all who want to particpate! Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, camp scholarships are available. Please contact Executive Director Emily Clark at emily.clark@girlsontherun.org to request a discount.

When does the season begin?

Practices will begin the week of April 1st. The culminating event will be the 5K on Sunday, June 2nd. More information will be shared by the GOTR staff and by your girl's coaches once the season begins.

What is the daily structure of Camp GOTR?

The morning (4 hours) will consist of a structured Camp GOTR Lesson with the following schedule:

Opening Game and Team Meeting (30 min)

Learning Games introducing the day's theme (30 min)

Play - girls practice new skills and move their bodies (45 min)

Reflect - girls reflect on the theme in their journal, have snack and share in small groups (30 min)

Create - girls particpate in three workshops: storytelling, building and arts and crafts (60 min)

Lunch (30 min)

Afternoon activities vary every day and include a movement activities like yoga or Zumba, STEM activities, creating a business plan with the Maine Center for Entrepeneurs, a demonstration by service dogs, and more.

Is there a way for me to sponsor a participant for Camp GOTR?
