Please visit "Our Locations" for a list of Fall 2017 sites.  We will continue to add sites throughout the month of July

(Note about Breakwater School in Portland - Bus Transportation is available from the Portland Schools, please contact Staci Olson at staci.olson@girlsontherun.org for more information.)

ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ON AUGUST 1 AT NOON.

PROGRAM REGISTRATION:

Girls on the Run-Maine engages in a lottery based online registration system. Parents/Guardians are able to sign their girl up online any time between August 1 at noon and August 10 at midnight. The lottery system helps to ensure all interested girls a fair opportunity to participate in the program by giving a nine day time frame to complete the registration.

On August 11th, a random, computer generated lottery will be run for each team. If a team is not full after lotteries are run, the registration will re-open and registratons will continue to be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

When you register your girl, you will be asked to submit a credit or debit card. You will only be charged for the registration if and when your girl is placed on a team. Registration will remain open through the first week of the season, which begins on September 11.

IF YOU ARE SELECTED IN THE LOTTERY:
You will receive an email on August 11 that you have been selected and your credit card will be charged.

IF YOU ARE NOT SELECTED IN THE LOTTERY:
You will receive an email on August 11 that you are on the waiting list, and your credit card will not be charged, unless you move from the waiting list to the registered list.

If a lottery is needed, girls who attend school at the host site are given priority over girls who do not attend school at the host site.

Waitlist Policy - All girls who are wait listed are given a guaranteed spot on the team the next time your site hosts a team.

Sibling Policy - All participants are registered for the lottery as individuals and siblings are not guaranteed spots together on the team.

Attendance Policy - All girls must be able to commit to BOTH practice days and times for the entire season in order to participate. Please make sure this is possible BEFORE registering. Thank you!

Paper Registration – If your site is listed as "paper registration" or if you are not able to register on the computer, please contact the school for the registration form and additional information as paper registration is managed by the Site Liaison at the school.

IF YOU REGISTER AFTER THE LOTTERY:
If spaces are available on the team you can go ahead and register.  If a team has reached maximum capacity and has a status of Waiting List, you should still register to get your daughter on the wait list for that team.  Credit cards are not charged unless awarded a spot on the team.

TEAM SIZE:

Teams need a minimum of 8 girls and have a maximum of 15 or 20 depending on the number of volunteer coaches.  If a team does not reach 8 girls by the start of the season,  the team will be cancelled and participants will receive a full refund.  After the lottery period, if a team is full, you will need to fill out the registration form to be added to the wait list.  Your credit card will not be charged and if  a spot opens up we will contact you.

Please note that if a site has two teams practicing on the same day that the teams are randomly divided and we do not take requests for specific teams.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

Girls on the Run – Maine strives to offer financial assistance to those families that cannot pay the full registration fee of $135. A family that is able to pay $135 is asked to pay the full amount. Families that need assistance are asked to contribute as much toward the full cost of the registration fee as they can afford. There is a chart on our application form that will help you determine an appropriate fee.

Scholarship applications for the Fall 2017 season are available here.

Paper Applications are also available. Families who are approved for a scholarship will be given a discount code to use on the Program Registration form.

PLEASE NOTE: A scholarship does not guarantee a spot on a team. Families must still register!

Curriculum Information for 3rd-5th grade

Girls on the Run International offers three versions of the GOTR curriculum.  Each curriculum covers similiar topics but the activities vary and are not cumilative.  Our curriculum schedule is as follows:

Spring 2017 - Version 1
Fall 2017 - Version 3
Spring 2018 - Version 2
Fall 2018 - Version 1

HEART & SOLE for 6th-8th Grade

Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run’s  program for middle school girls! Heart & Sole creates a positive, structured space for middle school girls to learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy, strengthen connections and develop life skills that will help them as they move through adolescence and beyond.

The Heart & Sole curriculum is rich with themes girls can relate to, addressing the whole girl—body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection—and building important life skills such as team building, developing a support system, boundary setting, decision making, asking for and providing help, and more.

This 10-week program is accessible to all girls regardless of athletic ability or fitness level and considers the range of ages and varied experiences of middle schoolers. Physical activity includes strength and conditioning appropriate for this age group. The season culminates with the Girls on the Run 5k, which is the celebratory event that underscores the confidence, competence, connection, character and caring they’ve been developing in the program and gives them a tangible sense of goal setting and achievement.
